What is a GFF?
Often people ask, "So, what exactly is a GFF?" A simple answer is an accountability partner. But, there is so much more to it!
God's Word commands us to love Him first above everything and everyone. Matthew 6:33 states, "But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added unto you." Yes, we are commanded to seek Him first. We are to keep him first in our heart, soul, mind, and in all we do (Matthew 22:37) But, how do we do this in a world that beckons us to attain, attend, and accomplish more and more? How do we keep God first in a society that mocks morals and scorns religion?
Though there are no pat answers to these questions, yet one thing of certainty is that we cannot keep God first on our own. We need a God First Friend (GFF). Each of us needs a friend who will help us in our daily walk with the Lord. We need a friend who will hold us up when our knees buckle under the pressure and pain of life's circumstances. We need a friend who will speak the truth in love when we are headed in the wrong direction. A GFF will laugh with us and do life with us. And most certainly a GFF will pray with and for us! She will also allow us to serve her in the same fashion. A GFF is our accountability partner in the greatest sense of the word.
Having a GFF is not a new concept. Throughout scripture, dynamic duos were sent out to do God's will. Pairs such as Jonathon and David, Ananias and Sapphira, Paul and Silas, and Peter and John worked together to accomplish the will of God. These relationships all experienced trials and tribulations, but regardless of the circumstances these pairs remained united in Spirit and purpose. And we will do well in modeling these pairs by finding a GFF for ourselves!
It is our desire to serve you as a GFF! We will strive to share God's word with you, pray with you, and laugh with you. We pray that you will visit us daily for encouragement!
