For the Kingdom of God is not a matter of what we eat or drink, but of living a life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.  If you serve Christ with this attitude, you will please God, and others will approve of you, too.  So then, let us aim for harmony in the church and try to build each other up.     -Romans 14:17-19

Christians do things differently from other Christians.  There isn’t a right or wrong way to serve the Lord.  Often we get stuck believing that our way is the only way.  Once we start living like this our unity with other Christians diminishes.  We start to judge others who aren’t like us and we question their faith because it doesn’t look like ours.  We should’t be worrying about what other people are doing or how they are doing it!  This only causes division between people who are supposed to be working together with a common goal of serving God and loving others.

Instead of judging how someone does something differently from us, let’s all try to build each other up.  Accept that our differences are from God, blessings that enable us to serve more people in the Kingdom and grow the church.  Let’s stop worrying about what others are eating and drinking and live this life of goodness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.    Amen!
