I Will Be With You
The Lord appeared to Isaac and said, “Do not go down to Egypt, but do as I tell you. Live here as a foreigner in this land, and I will be with you and bless you. I hereby confirm that I will give all these lands to you and your descendants, just as I solemnly promised Abraham, your father. -Genesis 26:2-3
Has God ever asked you to live in a foreign land? Has he allowed you to go through some tough circumstances and experience some uncomfortable situations? He certainly has a reputation for asking us to do some very hard things, but it’s so refreshing to hear His words of protection as He tells Isaac that He will be with him and bless him. This promise for Isaac is your promise, as well. When God asks us to get uncomfortable for him He is always right by our side. When we say yes, life will most likely still be hard. Just because we obey God and follow him to unknown places, doesn’t mean things will automatically be easy. He knows that whatever it is will grow us and shape us for what’s next and He is faithful to be with us through it all. Don’t be afraid of your whereabouts. Don’t get discouraged when you look out and nothing seems familiar. Stand firm on God’s promise and call on Him. He is waiting, ready to bless you and help you in any and all ways that’s best for you.
And know that you are never alone. Most likely you know someone who is also in an unfamiliar place. Reach out to that person. Share your fears and let that friend know that she isn’t alone either. Help each other get through your difficulties, and by doing so, bless and be blessed.
