Safe-House
God’s as safe-house for the battered, a sanctuary during bad times. The moment you arrive, you relax; you’re never sorry you knocked. -Psalm 9:9-10
When we choose to knock on God’s door, we are never disappointed. He is a safe-house to all who enter. Although it’s not a physical place we can go, God, himself, is a place of rest. When we can let go of our worry and enter His presence fully trusting in His provision, we can find relaxation.
I love how this Message translation puts it………”the moment you arrive”, putting the choice on us. Often we get weary of our situations and beg God for His help, expecting Him to just throw peace on us, but until we allow ourselves to arrive in His safe-house, we will continue to chase that peace we so crave. Jesus’ peace only comes when we stop trying to control the situation and allow ourselves to just be. Be in God’s presence, be in our moment, be right where we are. When we aren’t fighting to find a way out, when we aren’t scheming and manipulating and studying our circumstances, but just being. In the stillness we find peace. We find relaxation and rest when we finally let go and walk into God’s sanctuary, when we choose to arrive.
Have you arrived, or are you roaming outside the doors begging and pleading for peace and comfort? It’s your choice.
