A Simple Summer List
The precious days of summer slip past cautioning me to be aware of the need for intentionality in living this crazy thing called life. Time is short. Days, weeks, and months meld into a flurry of activity forcing me to decide how I will spend these precious days of summer.
I don’t want to do fancy, costly things. I’m exhausted of keeping record of tasks to complete, errands to run, and calendar events to uphold. I long for relaxed conversations and slow-paced seasonal activities. What I want is a simple summer list, a list of activities to share with those who love me and know me best. Yes, I want to do simple things:
make homemade waffle cones and ice cream
go on a long bike ride
relax by the pond with family and friends
go to the drive-in theatre
attend an outdoor concert
camp out
host a luau and a fiesta
read a book
watch the sunset
take a nap just because I can
gather together with family & friends
sit on the porch
play cards
eat lunch from a food truck
linger longer with Jesus
That’s it! That’s my list. Simple. Short. Satisfying.
Are you ready for rest from your never-ending lists and too-full calendar? Try making a simple summer list and then seek to keep the final days of summer simple.
And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. Colossians 3:17
