Fortify Friday
Send out your light and your truth; let them guide me. Let them lead me to your holy mountain to the place where you live. There I will go to the alter of God, to God - the source of all my joy. I will praise you with my harp, O God, my God! -Psalm 43:3-4
What are we looking for in these dark days? What questions do we have? What fears are gripping us? But, most importantly, where are we searching for answers? I won’t lie, finding answers in the light are hard to come by lately. Truth is almost impossible to find in a world where fake news exists and anyone with a computer can write a story. Everyone else claims to have the right answers and rumors are being thrown around like a baseball in summer. Social media is mostly negative and the news channels are hard to watch for more than a few minutes at a time. But, BE ENCOURAGED! God sends His light and truth to guide us, especially when the darkness is closing in. Light and truth will lead you to a place of peace, praise and worship. God’s truth will lead you from fear and anxiety to comfort and calm. His light will warm your soul and put a smile on your face.
In the darkest days these things are undoubtedly hard to find. Praising God is usually the last thing on our minds. But God faithfully provides all things to draw us closer to Him. We must be seeking this light and truth from His Word. So today, tomorrow or next week, when things are feeling too hard and your praise is silent or your feeling distant from God, call out to Him, like this Psalmist did. God accepts desperate cries! He is in the business of lighting the way and showing us something to be joyful over. In this uncertain time be certain you will find relief in the One True God. Our Bibles are our compass. God’s presence lights the way and our hearts can sing as we make our way back to God’s holy mountain.
